A huge thanks to everyone who helped the Branford Land Trust exceed their goal for the Great Give 2024! The event, in its 14th year, is organized by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to provide an opportunity for nonprofit organizations in the greater New Haven area, to participate, raise funds, and win prizes for their causes.
This year BLT raised over $7,000 in donations that will be put toward the renovation of our Land Trust House!
At the BLT Annual Meeting in May, two names were drawn for the winners of the Rosso Vino Gift Certificates. One of the winners, Bruce Johnson (above), was delighted to receive word of his prize. Bruce was born and raised in Branford before relocating to San Francisco, but still maintains ties to Branford. His comment upon learning of his prize:
“I’m very grateful to the Branford and Guilford Land Trusts for preserving and maintaining so many areas where I spent much time as a child and young adult – the Supply Ponds, the Stony Creek/Pine Orchard marsh rail trails, the Westwoods, and more. I always take at least one hike during the times (too few and far between) when I get back to Branford.”
Coincidentally, he will be visiting Branford in early June and is looking forward to using his certificate.
Thank you again for your kind support and we look forward to next year and having you participate again with the hope that others will join you!
