How would a Land Trust ever live up to a commitment to its goals of keeping natural open space available for all residents without a crew to deliver on that promise? With twice weekly regularity, currently Monday and Wednesday mornings, the Trail Crew is out working a project with 9 old fields to be edged with the brush cutter before tractor mowing, 30+ miles of trails to keep open, blown down trees to clear, and elevated walkways over wet areas to construct and maintain, the trail crew keeps very busy. We have added an Alaskan Chainsaw Mill to our available tool kit to mill on site our own conifer walkways. With a commitment to safety for the all-volunteer crew, the Land Trust does provide safety equipment, helmets and chainsaw instruction. Individuals bring their own hand tools such as loppers, clippers, and hand saws to the work locations throughout Branford. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact us.
You don’t have to be a biologist or naturalist, or have experience in any of the activities of BLT, be it lectures, work parties or administrative. Just a love of nature and a desire to preserve our natural resources for the future of our children.
