Sunday, February 2 & Saturday, March 1
9:30am – 11:00am at Head of Saltonstall Trail off Hosley Avenue, Branford, CT
What will YOU see? Deer, coyote, rabbit? You never know what you’ll discover during the Land Trust’s popular Animal Tracking classes, led enthusiastically by naturalists Tom Cleveland and Chris Woerner. Learn how to recognize animal footprints and other signs of their passage through the woods during two Animal Tracking Classes scheduled for Sunday, February 2 and Saturday, March 1 from 9:30 to 11am at the Saltonstall Trail. We’ll hope for snow, but it will be fun even without it! This free program is fun for both kids and adults.
Expect moderate terrain, some sloping trails and inclines, rocky underfooting. We generally start off with an off-trail meander through the woods (0.2 miles) and then walk a trail to Lake Saltonstall (0.5 miles) for a round trip of 1.25 miles that takes 1.5 hours. Parents should be prepared to carry younger children if they get tired. Please wear appropriate dress and comfortable, supportive walking shoes. Bring water. Walking sticks welcome. No dogs for this event, please.
We’ll meet at the first parking lot on the right off of Hosley Avenue in Branford (if you are coming from Brushy Plains Road). The approximate GPS address is 400 Hosley Avenue and it is located approximately one-third of a mile from the intersection of Hosley Avenue and Brushy Plain Road.
Inclement Weather Date: March 3 (no rain date for February 2 walk). Watch our Facebook page or www.branfordlandtrust.org for possible schedule changes. For questions please call Tom Cleveland @ 203-981-9040.
