A Parent-Child Workshop, Ages 5-9
Perfect for families with young children! Come build your own fairy house at Van Wie Woods. Rachel Obbard will lead a fun workshop for 5-9 year olds to build natural fairy houses on Saturday, July 12 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Van Wie Woods. (Rain date is July 13). Registration required at tinyurl.com/BLTfairyhouses. Limited to 12 children.
Parents and children are invited to this magical morning of fairy house construction! We will meet as a group near the parking area to get inspired about fairy houses, guidelines about collecting and to select some natural building materials. Then we will set out for a short walk on a trail where each parent/child group can pick a location to build their own unique creation using natural materials provided and found on the site. After, we will hear about and admire each of the fairy houses.
Rachel Obbard enjoys gardening, crafting and is a lover of all things miniature and sweet. She is trained as an engineer and has spent much of her career in polar regions conducting National Science Foundation-funded ice science. She now teaches writing at Dartmouth College and fairy house construction at Cobb Hill Co-Housing in Vermont.
