Please join the Branford Land Trust for an evening walk along the Stony Creek Trolley Trail — including a sunset vista — and learn about two far-sighted women to whom we owe a great debt. The walk will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5.
We’ll meet at the Tilcon Road trailhead, at the Pine Orchard end of Trolley Trail. (Note: this is NOT the Stony Creek entrance to the Trolley Trail, and Tilcon Road, going east from Totoket Road, is unmarked. See map.) Walking is partly flat, partly on a hill with rocky, irregular terrain. For those not wishing to walk the hilly section, there is the option of turning around and returning independently to the starting point. All ages welcome; rain or shine. Please leave dogs at home.
The Trolley Trail has long been a favorite among Branford residents, offering an intimate view of the tidal wetlands and a chance to observe osprey nesting on one of the many platforms hosted by the Branford Land Trust. It is complemented by the 15-acre wooded Goss Preserve and the Vedder Preserve along Pleasant Point Road with its remarkable views of Long Island Sound, the salt marsh, the Trolley Trail, and the Thimble Islands.
The event is free and open to the public.
