Volunteer opportunities that are mostly indoors
- Pick up mail from our PO box weekly
- Take donations to the bank biweekly
- Assist in Excel spreadsheet and Google doc production
- Oversee encroachments and help Property Management bring them to resolution
- Create trail maps
- Support BLT social media efforts (Facebook, YouTube, blog posts)
- Contribute writing, photos or artwork for our newsletter and other communications
- Fundraise
- Assist with grant writing
- Scan and electronically archive documents
- Archive paper documents at Land Trust house
- Maintain an online BLT calendar
- Organize events and parties
- Set up chairs/refreshments at lectures and events
- Join and/or chair the Membership committee
- Join the Finance committee
- Attend Town commission meetings and report back to the relevant BLT committees
- Provide training to board members in your specialized content area
- Liaison with and supervise youth activities (e.g., Branford High School and Scouts)
- Take photos of reported tree and branch blow-downs
- Assist with, or supervise, routine maintenance of Land Trust House
- Public relations for the LT House renovations project
- Research, collect and organize materials related to the history of the LT house
- Work with BCTV to make our programming available on local TV
- Correct Town maps of our properties
- Present in our winter speaker series
Volunteer opportunities that are mostly outdoors
- Help lead walks
- Assist with leadership in monthly Saturday work parties
- Work with youth from the Peabody Evolutions program
- Help at the annual children’s environmental day camp
- Spend time at the BLT table during the Branford Festival in June
- Help to set up and break down the tent and displays at the Branford Festival
- Participate in the twice-weekly trail crew
- Boundary marking
- Help with signage and parking at walks and events
- Maintain/replace trail blazes
- Refurbish our BLT property signs
- Improve trail head signage and post property names, where applicable
- Improve access ways for the tractors to cut our open space fields
- Acquire and plant native shrubs/sew native plant seeds on freshly cut fields
- Maintain our wooden boardwalks
- Pick up litter at trail heads and along popular trails
