Medlyn Lawsuit Resolution

Dear Friend,

The lawsuit filed by Jay Medlyn against the Branford Land Trust (BLT) in 2016 concerning coastal flooding has been resolved. The Land Trust has settled with Mr. Medlyn for $16,000, which will be paid by our insurance carrier. As indicated in the full agreement (attached here), this settlement does not constitute an admission of liability by the Land Trust for any damage to property or any claims made by Mr. Medlyn in the lawsuit.

Most importantly, both Mr. Medlyn and the BLT have agreed not to defame, disparage or speak negatively about each other in any way, and have further agreed not to make or solicit any false or misleading comments, statements, rumors, or allegations about the dispute or the settlement.

It is our hope that the resolution of this suit will allow us to move forward and work together as a community to find solutions to reduce and manage the impact of rising sea level and coastal storms. It is an issue that affects all of us.

We thank the members of the Land Trust and the Branford community for their continued support, and we look forward to preserving and protecting open space for the benefit of all our neighbors for decades to come.

Thank you.

Pete Raymond (President)
and the Branford Land Trust Board
