Branford Girl Scout Community Project

Branford Girl Scout Gold Award candidate Mia Katz with help from her dad, Steven, installs the first of six new Branford Land Trust trail head signs. This one is at the Jennifer Heights trail off Shore Drive, across from the entrance to Harbor Village.

The Girl Scout Gold Award requires girl scouts grades 9 through 12 to spend at least 80 hours researching issues, assessing community needs and resources, building a team, and making a sustainable impact in the community. Nationally, only six percent of older girl scouts earn the Gold Award.

Land Trust helpers with Mia’s trail head project have been Harry Merrick, Larry Wheeler, and Matt Reed.
