The “BLT is for Every Body” campaign is helping the Branford Land Trust focus on being an inclusive community. All are welcome as members, volunteers, in our leadership, on our trails and at our programs. It also means we are working to increase accessibility. Our efforts:
- Conduct programs for affinity groups in our community
- Outreach to all new Branford residents
- Offer programs in more neighborhoods
- Broaden the speakers and topics in our winter speaker series
- Diversify membership, volunteer corps, and leadership
- Provide scholarships for our children’s summer environmental day camp
- Construct an ADA accessible entrance, lavatory, and parking at the Land Trust House
- Employ technology on hikes for HOH (hard of hearing)
- Use technology and services at meetings and programs for deaf/Deaf/HOH
- Construct our first All Persons Trail at Todds Hill Wet Meadow Preserve
All of these accessibility features will allow for more diverse attendance and greater participation at all of our programs!
