May 14 Fish Report

Alewives are an important food source for ospreys when sitting on eggs.

Alewives are an important food source for ospreys when sitting on eggs.

In its May 14 Fish Report, DEEP indicates that the Alewife migration is winding down across the state, and that numbers have been generally somewhat lower than in recent years. The number of fish climbing the Supply Ponds dam fishway dropped to about 100 for the week, giving a total to date of 1,395.

Join us at the fishway on May 24, World Fish Migration Day. Branford will be holding an open house at the fishway from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, one of several events around the state. Click here for more information about the World Fish Migration Day events.
