After the work party – the Zielinski Farm from Brushy Plain Road

On November 15, Amos Barnes, Clarice Begemann, Deb, Paul and Jonathan Bodner, Steve Gallicher, Bill Horne and Judy Miller cleared brush and vines from the edges of the field at the Zielinski Farm, BLT’s newest acquisition. Great progress was made restoring the view of the field from the road. Watch for more information about this property in the next BLT News.

On December 6, we will be clearing woody shrubs and trees from the field on the Stony Creek Limited Partnership Preserve to maintain the old-field character. Meet at 9:00 am. Bring loppers, small handsaws, sturdy hand clippers, and work gloves. Park on Long Point Rd or Wallace Rd (the far intersection with Thimble Island Rd, opposite Long Point Rd). We will walk in along the private driveway marked 50 Wallace Rd. Call Bill Horne (203-488-6146) for more information.

The work parties offer a chance to get to know some of the BLT properties and to spend a little time with some great people. If you have school age kids, this is a chance for them to pick up some community service credits. If you’d like to receive information about the monthly work parties, please email Bill Horne (billhorne48@yahoo.com) and ask to be added to the list of people receiving reminder emails.
